38 Baby Savage was born on May 31, 1977. To my knowledge, his mom never had an opportunity to see him. He was a stillbirth and there was no way he could have been saved. He was born at the Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, PA. The George Green Funeral home in Munhall, PA was kind enough to provide their services; Janet's parents had an available grave site at the South Side Cemetery where other members of their family had been laid to rest.

Rev. Hartley of Homestead Methodist Church in Munhall (who had married us) held a small grave side service at the Cemetery. Janet was still in the hospital at the time.

Taking no chances, Janet and I decided that if we were lucky enough to have a child that we would go to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Hospital for the delivery.
Fortunately, less than a year later, we were blessed with a healthy child, Woodson J. Savage, IV (Jay) born on April 24, 1978.

Janet would dedicate the rest of her life to raising Jay and she lived long enough to see him get married before she died of pancreatic cancer in 2004. Her only regret was that she knew she would not live long enough to be able to see her grandchild!
